Curator’s Spotlight: Fariba Murray

In the spotlight today is Fariba Murray. At first glance Fariba's work looks like randomly placed colors on a grid. But on closer inspection you'll find these colors all come from a visual experience rooted in realty--a sunrise, a spring day, moonlight, a summer garden--whose essence is distilled into a grid form. Her approach was inspired by the gridded imagery of the handmade carpets of her native Iran. Drop by to see her work in person, especially her series "Daylight" depicting the quality of light as dawn turns into day.
