Curator’s Spotlight: Deana Moore Schoolcraft

In the spotlight of our Artists’ Series is Deana Moore Schoolcraft. Deana paints in oils and primarily chooses to work with landscape compositions.

She enjoys Plein Air Painting. “En plein air” is a French expression meaning “in open air.” Sometimes in favorable weather you can spot Deana set up outdoors with her painting gear actively working the paints on another canvas.

What makes Deana’s work so amazing to me is how she perfectly captures the sunlight’s interaction with her chosen subject matter and nature. The perception of depth in her work...I believe is achieved by the differences of color value and usage of lights against darks. Deana’s paintings are visually captivating to one’s eye and leaves you with a sense of calm and peace.

Stop by and check her work out at Main Gallery 404. It’s amazing!!!
